Your story
Skin cancer affects more people than we often realise—and behind every diagnosis is a real person, a real journey, and a story worth telling.
Whether you’re a survivor, currently undergoing treatment, supporting a loved one, or simply want to raise awareness, your voice matters.
By sharing your experience, you can:
- Help others recognise early signs
- Encourage someone to get checked
- Offer comfort to those feeling alone
- Break down fear and stigma
No story is too big or too small. Honest, personal experiences can make a powerful difference.
Your story could save a life.
If you feel comfortable, we invite you to share your journey with us. Together, we can raise awareness, support one another, and inspire action this Skin Cancer Awareness Month.
Skin Cancer Survey, May 2026
Throughout May 2026, we invited patients, carers, family members and those affected by skin cancer to share their experiences through our Skin Cancer Survey. While the report is based on 29 responses, the findings provide a meaningful insight into the challenges faced by people across Northern Ireland.
The survey highlights several key themes, including the urgent need for greater public awareness of skin cancer, concerns surrounding waiting times for appointments, diagnosis and treatment, and the importance of improved education around prevention, early detection and recognising potential warning signs.
The experiences shared within this report reinforce the need for continued investment in awareness campaigns, public health education and timely access to specialist services. Every response represents a personal story, and together they help build a clearer picture of where improvements can be made.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to participate. Your voices are helping to shape future advocacy efforts as we continue to campaign for better outcomes for patients and families affected by skin cancer.
